Samuel L. Jackson is stirring up as much courtside trouble as his new
character, "Coach Carter."
The Oscar-nominee says racism contributed to Indiana Pacer Ron Artest's
season-long NBA suspension, following the infamous player-fan brawl of Nov.
19.

"I knew immediately that he was going to be blamed for it," Jackson told us.

"It all becomes a very strange kind of race issue. As black players were
going into the stands, it looked like it was black players fighting white
fans. But, there were some black fans fighting, too . and you also won't
hear a lot about the white kids who ran out on the court, where they
shouldn't have been," griped Jackson, while doing press rounds for his
January film, in which he plays a controversial basketball coach.

The NFL's not off the hook, either.

"The same way with the Monday Night Football opening. If [white player]
Peyton Manning would have been standing there, and Nicolette Sheridan would
have dropped her towel, it would have been like, 'What a cute opening!
'Desperate Housewives'! Yeah!'" he fumed.

"It changes when it's [black player] Terrell Owens. The more we advance, the
more we go backwards."

I wonder how long it will be until people like Samuel L. Jackson will
be able to accept that a black man may have made a mistake and done
the wrong thing?

Bryguy and Mithra will flame me for this, but I absolutely agree with him
on this point.

I think we all need to just laugh at things like the Desperate
Housewives opening. I found it comical, but not quite as comical as
Joe Nameth's kissing Suzy Colbert on Monday Night Football.

kinda... i think it *was* a bigger deal because of the interracial thing,
but i also think it would've been a deal if say jeremy shockey had caught
her.

though i think it would've been an even bigger deal though if owens had
caught a nude shockey.

he thought he wanted to kiss her but she didn't actually do it. or maybe
something happened after they went back to the booth.

Yes Collard, we know you jump to rush to every

Samuel L still thinks OJ's innocent.

Does he blame racism on the suspension? Or
does he blame the suspension on racism? :-)

Okay, I get it now:

Speaking out against all racial discrimination = redneck
Giving it a pass if it's not directed at a preferred group = enlightened
