Hi,

Please could you recommend a brand or model of Sandal that has plenty
of shock absorbing bounce in its sole for a fairly heavy man? I get
some small twinges in my joints.

I'm 203 pounds or 92 kg or 14.5 stone and 6 foot 3 inch. I am US size
13 or 14 EE or D. UK Size 13.

Thanks for any advice.

Fairly heavy? At 6’3” and 203, your BMI =25.4 the upper range of
normal would be 24.9. So you’re just barely outside of the normal
weight range. You might want to look a little harder into the
underlying cause of that joint pain because chances are it may not be
your weight.

I've been happy with both Keen and Chaco offerings in the sandal.
188cm/110kg/Sz 13 (USA)
I'm on my feet quite a lot, but don't go as far as running in them.

Consider http://www.zcoil.com/ shoes, invented locally. They
specifically target joint pain issues.

You're not heavy in relation to your height and your foot is large enough to
bear it. How old are you?

Try Mephisto if money is no object.

I'm mid 30's. Thanks for all the info. Not sure I'd go for the Zcoil
sandals. They look too unusual for everyday usage. Will check out
Chaco and Keen. Any other brands that produce good sandals with thick
shock absorbing soles?

I personally recommend Teva's

They are tough and hardwearing and keep me comfortable.

I even wear them sometimes up a mountain as well as on the flat by a
river.
Hey at Monmouth Regatta in Wales recently, I wore them whilst doing
Umpiring on Control Commission. It was raining at the time and I just
did not want to get my full umpiring clothes too muddy for when I was
on the start later.

Me too.
Also Ecco, which usually have a "Shock Point" in the heel specifically for
shock absorption.

IMHO, Crocs should not be worn by any one over the age of 8, unless on
the beach. They look vile!
