bingo...is he not just another sub 6 foot shooting guard forced to play
point from their size?

teams prefer bigger players with some athleticism.

'pure shooters' get a better FGP than 41% or 45% in college....

yah, I am. Rasheed Wallace was a good outside shooter, as was Person.

What happens when you have outside shooting? It makes it difficult to double
team a post player.

What happens when you make it difficult to double post players? They can
score easier..

Derek Fisher is not a good outside shooter.

Suggesting that I'd be happier trading Rasheed for Brent Barry and Reggie
Miller doesn't really have anything to do with my original point that the
team HAS NO OUTSIDE SHOOTERS anymore.

coming up with some alternate trade suggestion doesn't really change my
opinion that I wish they hadn't traded their only good outside shooter.

And beat the Spurs (and Indiana?) not too long ago, too. They've
been playing pretty good basketball lately.

That's what I'm saying. He is lamenting the loss of Wesley Person?!

'Sheed was most of the outside shooting, he took 300 a season. Zach can not
handle a collapsing defense.
DA and Damon's 3pt % is pretty bad so it will be difficult to prevent that
defense.

rahim gets double teamed all the time. zach gets double teamed, sometimes
even gang banged by 3 guys in the paint. teams have learned that he's not
passing, so they converge. I hope teams double team rahim b/c it might
allow zach to do more 1 on 1. but even at that, I think defenses will have
to focus on theo a bit. I really don't think teams will benefit from
double teaming anyone in our starting lineup.

I agree with you D. these blazers fans here haven't watched enough of rahim
or theo to know what they bring to the table, so they'll have a different
view in hindsight. like you pointed out, rasheed was no larry bird and
person wasn't an intrecal part of our offense. we'll still score points
and maybe not we'll shoot more smart shots instead of launching up 3's...
that's all we're talking about anyways, who's going to shoot 3s? who
cares. miles, woods, rahim, and DA are all athletic guys who can create and
still have a hoard of years ahead of them. I think we got a good core for
the future.

Do not get too fond of them....From Nash's sound bite it seems like he is
more interested in Ratliff and SAR as trade bait, "assets" before next
season's deadline...

the blazers are worried about the cap, but we want to remain competetive and
keep our playoff streak alive. plus I don't believe either rahim or theo
are locked into long term deals.

And you all still whined about it when he was playing SF....I suppose Dirk
and KG should not be shooting 3s because they are 7 footers?

The timing is a little strange. It seems like it would have made more
sense two or three weeks ago before they got Miles and Cook.

Reportedly this was an offer they made several times and the Hawks just
changed their minds.

I guess that means they don't need Nick Van Exel.

This would be a good time to just disband that team. They were already
short-handed and now they trade three players for two.

Good timing for the Hawks maybe, but too bad the Blazers couldn't have
at least waited a few more days. They really need to win both of their
two home games this week. The new guys won't play against Utah tonight,
but they should be available for the Denver game.

Aldridge was doing some double counting, but it will still be a lot.
Wallace, Person, and Brandon add up to about 36 million. Stories about
the trade say Atlanta was right at the luxury tax threshold, which was
about 56 million last year, so this will allow them to drop to around
20 million, about the same as Utah. So they're looking at even more
cap room than Orlando had when they signed Hill and McGrady.
