Hi every one,
What do you think of Detroit Shock chances in Play-off ?
Do they have any chance against Sparks or Houston for title considering they
have home court advantage if I read well ?
What has brought Bill Laimbeer to turn this team into a winning one ?
Are they just lucky or do they have the slight difference between losing and
wining ?
I only saw them once on TV this year and their gaming and passing seemed to be
very close to the european way of playing. So I would be interested in having
your opinions.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Young and inexperienced teams are notorious of underperforming in play-offs and
after-season play.
So you'd have to give the edge to the Sparks or Houston.

IMHO, the Shock will have a difficult time getting out of the East - they will
have to face the Sting (more than likely), and the Sting has had their number
all year.

Not all that great. Cheryl Ford (the Mailman's daughter) is out injured.
That's bad news.
They are a team with little if any playoff experience. They remind me a lot
of the Los Angeles Sparks back in 1999 when they were in the playoffs for
the first time. The Sparks lost to the Comets in 1999 and then lost to them
again in 2000 before they won it all in 2001.

Incidently, losing to the Comets two times in a row in the playoffs is what
lead Toler and Cooper to bring in Byears and Mapp.

The Shock beat the Sparks in OT and lost to Houston (and Sacramento) in the
only games they played against them.
The Shock is also 0-4 against the Charlotte Sting. Those are teams with
years and years of playing experience.
No Shock player has more than 4 years playing experience in the WNBA. 3
rookies, 3 players with ONE year and and 2 players with TWO years.

High draft picks that they have used to get extremely talented players.
This should be a good team for years to come.

Luck has nothing to do with it.

Ho... I didn't read anything about it... i only saw that yesterday night
Laimbeer kept Cash, Nolan, Powel, Ford on the bench and Riley only played for 11
minuts.

Thanks for your comments. They will have a lack of experience during Play-offs
if I understand your point of view.

Doesn't their players' NCAA tournament experience count for something?

What is Ford's injury? I haven't heard anything about it...other than
seeing her as in the IL now.

"Lurker at the Threshhold" a pensé très fort :

Well... she came back from injury...
Just to notice that Detroit is the sole team to win on the road. That
doesn't prove anything but maybe they've got more experience than said
before.

With the Sting knocked out, the Shock are certainly favored to take the East.

The Sun won on the road and so did the Rockers.
PS...if the Sun somehow won 4 more games, where would the parade be? LOL.
