We don't have those here in New York.

For the amount of playing time he gets, I would think no.
Now if we trade Lee, he would matter more.

Who matters on that team? Vince will be in a wheel chair by the time that
arena opens.

Perhaps eventually. They don't have anybody but Vince Carter yet for
the year in which they will most likely move (2011).

Sophomore and rookie Yi and Lopez will be on the team, that's true.
To my mind, neither really has proven that either matters just yet.

You are right. I was half kidding on Yi. I think Lopez will be a
better player ..

This Nets team right now reminds me a little of the Celtics of a few
years ago in that they have put together a number of young assets and
stripped themselves of second rate stars and has-beens. Vince Carter
isn't half the leader or player that Paul Pierce is. That is for sure.
But they do have the flexibility that the Celts have in that they have
a lot of promising pieces and good contracts to offer in a trade...
and a lot of players that they could develop to be keepers depending
on how the offers work.

Yi, Marcus Williams (who I actually think will be a dud), Devin
Harris, Sean Williams, Brook Lopez, and Douglas-Roberts. They should
suuuuck this season and have at least another high pick to add to that
core. And, unlike the Celts, they'll have the cap room.

It doesn't look like much now but Vandeweghe/Thorn have a good hand to
work with going into the future. One of the best in the league not
counting teams like Memphis who simply don't have the capital to make
good on their promise. Kiki _should_ have more financial clout in
Jersey/Brooklyn should that move happen.

However, building from that foundation is where Kiki had his troubles
in Denver imo... He faltered in turning good youth and flexibility
into a contender, instead creating a borderline playoff team.

So we'll see how he does here.
