So you think that the Knicks should build a team around Eddie Curry? That is
essentially what the Spurs did in terms of their C.

What do you mean 'should'? Did you miss the season? We already spent an
entire season flowing the game through Curry, our franchise player who,
according to Isiah, deserves respect around the league as an elite center.
We have our own Parker in Starbury, Manu in Crawford, Bowen in Jeffries and
Horry in Jerome.

He qualifies as both? How does that work? He has never played the 5
position as anything other than a temporary stopgap. In their four
championships they have had at center David Robinson (2X), Nazr
Mohammed, and now Fabricio Oberto. They've also had Rasho Nesterovic,
Francisco Elson, etc.
I don't think that's splitting hairs. You're just wrong here. As
always, it doesn't hurt to do a little homework before you make
proclamations. >> Stay informed about: Well........ Spurs are champs again..... |

Worst finals ever... I think even worse than Nets-Spurs... no fault to
the Spurs either. Their series with Phoenix was terrific but the Cavs
just weren't a match.
I really would have liked to see a Dallas rematch with the Spurs. >> Stay informed about: Well........ Spurs are champs again..... |

Glenn, my apologies if it sometimes gets snippy, although I must
confess that I do get annoyed when you repeatedly post proclamations
based on inaccurate information. It seems like you talk always about
stuff you don't always know about, without being bothered to do the
slightest bits of research first. This just seems to lead to ignorant
debates that are irrelevant.
Here I saw the potential for another one, which is why I chimed in.
To make an argument that one should build around their center like
such and such team, when has NOT built around their center, but
instead built around their power forward, just leads everyone astray.
To me, this is not the most insignificant part. It's the central
point of your argument, and it's flawed to its core based upon
misinformation. Since David Robinson got old, San Antonio has been
winning specifically without a star center but instead using
serviceable role-player types like Mohammed, Elson, Nesterovic, Oberto
etc in the starting role.
And suggesting that Lee and Curry are interchangeable as central
foundation building blocks is further to the point -- they have very
different skill sets and more importantly very different flaws and
salary ramifications that would dramatically affect how the team
around them is constructed. All of these things should be central
considerations to whom you make your franchise player and who you
build around. You can't just look at a box score and vote for the guy
who you see with numbers. You have to look a little deeper than that.

Noah, let me ask you. Do you look for my posts and get a woody about ripping
me? I only post opinion really, and since I am more hopeful that you, we
differ greatly. There are times I am flat out wrong I will admit, but there
were times I was dead on when others were against me. Right in this post, I
really can't believe you pick the most insignificant point to argue. The
jist of my post was the Spurs more or less have built around Duncan. If he

You know what Noah, that is an excellent point if I wasn't being sarcastic
in the first place. Curry nor Lee nor anyone on the knicks is a founation
player you can build around. Curry has a chance if he learns to play D and
use his body more, Lee looks like he will be a player that will put up
Oakley type numbers without the intimidation factor, but that is not a guy
you base your personel moves on.

There's no reason to believe that you were being sarcastic. You've
suggested personnel moves around Lee plenty of times before. >> Stay informed about: Well........ Spurs are champs again..... |

Duncan played 668 playoff minutes. 55% of those minutes were spent with
either Elson or Oberto on the court. That leaves 45% of his minutes spent
playing center. This has been the pattern for the last three or four
seasons, with Duncan spending half his minutes at the 5, >> Stay informed about: Well........ Spurs are champs again..... |

It doesn't clear much up -- it's a rambling, sometimes insulting,
stream-of-consciousness rant that neither addresses the point, the
previous post, or the thread.
You're just going on and on about what you think of the Knicks'
starters, not addressing the topic, which is whether or not the Knicks
should be rebuilt around the franchise center (a silly suggestion in
the first place since these Spurs didn't build around their franchise
center).
In doing so you're not opening up much that's new -- they're all
opinions that have been repeated ad nauseaum by all of us at one point
or another. I'm not sure what the relevancy here is.
Good on you that you got to vent all your frustrations from previous
debates, but as you don't even seem to be addressing this one I'm
going to get out of dodge. >> Stay informed about: Well........ Spurs are champs again..... |
