"The Lakers and point guard Sun Yue have agreed to terms on a two-season
contract, the team confirmed Thursday. The Lakers hope to sign Sun formally
within the next few days, team spokesman John Black said."
Sounds like more than just an invite to camp.

Yes, he will almost certainly make the 14-15 man roster, if not often the
active 12 (barring injury). Maybe he can contribute a little by late this
or more likely next season.

Don't know how he'll shoot with us but he appears to have some nice handles
for a big guy. Looks like he has the makings of real playmaker once he
learns the Tri. He also had a nice block, at least I think that was him.
He is going to be an intriguing addition.

The Lakers have announced he'll play 2 primarily and possibly swing to 3.

he will be in the d-league unless he beats out the other rookie for
the fifth guard. I am still hopefull that the lakers get rid of walton
and vladrod neither of them can play defense. >> Stay informed about: Sun Yue |

Since it is doubtful that all or maybe any of Yue's contract is guaranteed,
that he will have to earn a roster spot pretty much goes without saying. But
it does seem obvious that Yue is the Lakers' priority rather than Crawford
who, it appears, they haven't even tried to sign yet. I think Sun will be
given every opportunity to be an impact player in the upcoming season.
Unless he turns out be something really special (or Yue turns out to be a
1st season bust), I think its more likely Joe Crawford will end up in the
d-league, at least early on.

I would agree, he has some developing to do just as a player even before
you consider the adjustment to the NBA game that even superstars like Scola
have to go through.

You can't "get rid of" them, they still have years on their contracts. To
move them you would have to take on something just as bad if not worse,
since at least those two have some role player value.
