Because no one seemed to care here.

I'll post it anyway...

NETS ACQUIRE YI JIANLIAN AND BOBBY SIMMONS FROM MILWAUKEE IN EXCHANGE
FOR RICHARD JEFFERSON

East Rutherford, NJ – The New Jersey Nets have acquired forwards Yi
Jianlian and Bobby Simmons from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for
forward Richard Jefferson, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today.

“We feel that Yi can be a very special player,” said Thorn. “He is a
20-year old seven footer who shoots the ball extremely well, and he is
an excellent addition to our frontcourt. Bobby Simmons is a veteran
NBA player who has averaged 10 points for his career, and should be a
rotation player for us.”

---

I'm sad to see Jefferson go. But hey, your saving money. From this
point forward...ALL eyes will be on Lebron when he goes FA. Your
looking at a battle between NY and NJ for all that advertising!

Shouldnt you be saying NY vs Brooklyn. I mean the jersey thing just
has no resonance. No town or city just boring as jersey. Arent all
other teams in the NBA from an actual city in the state? Jersey is the
on state in the USA that doesnt have a city that people can even
identify with. Best thing to happen tot he Nets franchise is if they
finally come BACK to NY. Remember the NY Nets with Dr. J

I agree with the whole NJ/NY thing. To take this out of context, if
you ever look at a map for Six Flags Amusement Parks. Six Flags Great
Adventure is shown as NJ/NY, even though it is squarely in Jackson,
NJ...no where near NY.

But with that said, Brooklyn isn't a done deal. The Atlantic Yards
project, which includes the Barclay's Center (where the Nets will
play) was approved, but still is subject to lawsuits before
construction. The new lease the Nets made with the Izod Center in
East Rutherford, NJ was extended to 2013 with a provision to release
them in 2009 if the Barclay's Center is finished. Yet here we are
less than a year from that and construction has yet to begin. I would
rather see them move to the Prudential Center in Newark where the
Devils play (by which they still have an open invitation to do so from
the Devils).

Everyone assumes it's a done deal, yet it is far from over and does
have the possibility of being rejected because of the lawsuits. They
are trying to force people to move out of their homes to build this
thing.

This is far from over.

I know it is not a done deal yet and who knows but the main thing that
pisses me is the fact that what the hell does jersey have for any
team??? As I stated earlier new jersey is the only state in the usa
that either borrows teams from NY or simply has no city in the state
to identify with. I mean every other team has a relation to a city in
that state. Jersey has no city at all that identifies it to the rest
of the country. Oh by the way I agree with the 6 Flags example. It is
pitiful only thinh jersey is known for is being close to NY. Sad just
sad. Even teams out west have a city attached to it. Poor pitiful
jersey is just there with nothing. New Jersey Nets claim to fame...
they used to be called the NY Nets and they had a player named Dr. J
