You're late on that one. The wave already crested.

This just in. In other breaking news, the Hindenburg has just burst into
flames in Lakehurst New Jersey, killing 36.

You're blaming Roy for the women's team? Harsh.

He missed all those shots in the men's game.
Prolly at fault here, too...

Were the fouls legit, though? All I'm reading in the news coverage is
the emphasis on the fact that during the last 8 minutes, the Lady Vols
shot about 20 free throws while NC shot 8.

I wasn't watching the game - I turned it off when they were down 12,
so I don't know if those fouls were 'legit' or if the refs 'gave' it
to the Lady Vols. Coach Hatchell did seem a bit irked about the
disparity...

Off with his head!

And it's "Tar Heel Basketball", dork.

Watching the game reminded me why I don't like women's basketball all that
much. Two top teams with a lot of speed just play ugly basketball. Too
many turnovers and WAY too many missed shots from close range. Everything
looks so rushed and helter-skelter to me. It's not boring, but it is
painful. Oh, and all the blocked shots. On the men's side it seems like
most blocks are of the athletic variety. You know, you have to jump way up
high and hit it. On the women's side that's rare...usually the ball is
still well in the shooter's hand.

The officiating is somewhat odd to me on the women's side, too. Seems like
they allow a lot more over the back for rebounds than the mens side. Sure,
the mens side allows a lot of physical play under the basket, but just not
really in this way.

But all in all, not a great way to end. Didn't surprise me much, though,
when Tar Heels started fouling out. With Little and Pringle gone they had
little defense for Parker. Man, I love Parker's game. Always in control
and very smooth.

One bad call does not a badly called game make, but that call was
definitely bad. I don't agree at all with Doris Burke's analysis, though.
A foul is a foul is a damned foul. Until the rule is changed, if you have
established position underneat the damned basket before an offensive player
leaves the ground and that offensive player runs over you, THAT IS A
CHARGE. That said, I'm not sure that it was a charge on the other end, and
I know this wasn't a charge. She came to a stop and tried to dish a pass
behind Spencer. Spencer thought she was going to keep moving so she
flopped as Little's arms wrapped around her for the pass, and the charge
was called. That was definitely a place for a no-call since there was NO
FOUL.

They took it to UNC in the paint and UNC didn't reciprocate, instead
shooting jumpshots. Sound familiar?
