Yeah, I think Ford gets moved at that time. Maybe to get a high pick,
maybe for the elusive athletic SF.

Hey man, what's up with Joe Alexander, I keep hearing his name
synonymous with "sleeper". What's the deal with him, do you have any
additional information than what's written in nbadraft.net and
draftexpress.com? >> Stay informed about: Trade around draft day? |

Looks to my uninformed analysis like Joe Alexander is the only one worth
trading up for.
Beasley is a tweener, Mayo, Bayless and Gordon are too short to play any
SF. Randolph is too soft for this team.
Gallinari is not athletic enough and too De Ja Vu.
If they can trade up to get Joe that would be cool, otherwise, might as
well keep the 17th and take whichever of
Chase Budinger, Chris Douglas-Roberts or Nicolas Batum is available.
Personaly, I hope they get Alexander, Budinger or CDR, with CDR being a
Mo-Pete type good reserve player, marginal
started when needed.
Or even better, trade down for Denver's pick, still draft CDR and send Ford
along with Kapano, Parker
or Moon in a deal for Carmelo Anthony.

No, I have less information than is available from those sites, just that
he sounds
like the kind of player that fits both the NBA and the Raptors.
Mabye somebody who actually watches basketball can comment?
I say trade up for Alexander, or trade down for CDR, otherwise just
take CDR at 17 or take a closer look at Chase, Batum or maybe Rush.
Outside of Alexander, I don't see a significant wing player in the draft
for us, and
would rather see Toronto make a play for Marion, Carmelo, or another
legitimate NBA
starting SF.

I think the Raptors' best chance at landing a solid wing player is
through a trade for a veteran player, not through the draft. Like you
said there are very few fit the mold we're looking for in this year's
draft class and the best prospects will be taken early.
DraftExpress has some recent scouting reports on Alexander and seems
like everyone goes in with high expectations and comes out even more
impressed. Someone like that will likely go in the top 10. He's
going to be a lottery pick..
I just don't know that we have the right players to trade up with.
Teams looking to trade down are looking for value. A relatively
underpaid player or someone who has a lot of upside. We don't have
anyone like that, unless you want us to trade Jamario Moon.
I also don't think we have the pieces to get someone like Carmelo or
Marion. That's shooting way too high, and unrealistic.
Last thing I heard from Denver was Carmelo, Kenyon and Camby going to
Detroit for Billups, Tayshaun and Rasheed. That's the kind of
personnel they're looking for, which we simply don't have. You have
to think about the situation Denver is in. They have a small window
to work with here. There's no one on our team that can join their
team and immediately make more impact than what they already have
except for Chris Bosh.
As for Miami, Marion is $17M of cap relief. The only player they'd
draft Marion for is Chris Bosh. >> Stay informed about: Trade around draft day? |

Sorry to sound so negative..
Anyway, I thought a good possibility was a sign-and-trade deal with
the Clippers for Maggette. I don't know if Livingston will ever be
the same, that is if he ever plays again.
If Maggette were to exercise his player option (which he won't.. word
is he wants out), he makes approximately the same as Ford does.
Another option is the Knicks, where we can upgrade Anthony Parker into
a Jamal Crawford. Not the most ideal but he's a good scorer which
we've been lacking. Crawford makes less than Ford, so maybe we ask
the Knicks to throw in David Lee (wishful thinking but hey, it's more
realistic than landing Shawn Marion!) >> Stay informed about: Trade around draft day? |

Not sure about that, Ford, Kapano, Moon and Anthony Parker are all players
they may find interesting, and Marion is a sign-and-trade so they will not
get anything close to Bosh in terms of value for him. If Riley likes Ford,
something could be worked out.
> Sorry to sound so negative..
You didn't sound negative, in general it's a good bet that we will not get
Alexander, Marion or Anthony, for the reasons you mention. But these are
the days of hope! We will see what BC will do.

To make space for a new star wing and a draft wing two of Anthony Parker,
Jason Kapano, Carlos Delfino, Jamario Moon and Joey Graham would not be
back, and Parker, Kapano And Moon definitely have pretty good trade value.
So maybe Ford and one or two of the others could be packaged for Maggette
and the 7th, meaning we can draft Alaxander, or the same type package for
Marion, and we draft can Douglas-Roberts.
