How in the hell does Madsen get so many minutes in OT? No Davis the
entire OT? I haven't seen too many games this season as I didn't get
league pass this season, but that was some horrible coaching on who was
used in OT.

Awesome shot by James, but totally negated and forgotten when he forgot
to play D on the other end covering Billups. I don't know why you just
don't have all five guys at the 3 point arc and just let them take the
quick two.

I thought about that strategy. It would nearly eliminate the problems with
screening as no matter what in almost all situations you'd have someone else
out there already to cover the shooter. Honestly, let them lob it in down
low for a dunk. Don't even defend the hoop. I think the opposition would
be so surprised they might not even quite know what to do. The Pistons were
out of TOs and therefore could not advance the ball anymore. So you're
looking at perhaps 4 seconds max remaining in the game after the Wolves
shoot FTs after an inbounds and intentional foul.

Even with just a 1-point lead, that should almost certainly hold up because
of the time needed to get the ball downcourt.

Hindsight 20/20 and all that.

Tolbert was going on and on about the "You must foul here!" strategy, btw..
and I think he's dead wrong. I've actually seen that backfire more often
that work, *unless* the ball is being inbounded in the backcourt where
players simply aren't in a position for a quick shot. In the frontcourt,
players can catch and be in their shot almost instantly. You're just
*asking* for a 3-shot foul.

I think defending the shot is best but I would throw all defenders out
beyond the 3-point line, let them dunk it as hard as they want, they ain't
getting 3 points in one trip.

Or past mid way though the 3rd quarter for that matter...must have got in the dog house or was
injured?

Likely justice since he was out of bounds before the shot.

Pistons prevented it.

So KG likely gets suspended. . He sorta threw a punch after he was out of range. Does not matter
that he missed by a mile on purpuse.. it is an automactic one game if ruled a punch. Plus throwing
the ball at Dyss and initiating the shoving match might make it 2 games.... Dyss should get a game
or two for the elbow and one for retaliating on KG....League is getting pissy these days about that
stuff....

Anyone come off the bench?

Refs missed the foul on Sheed that knocked James out of bounds... but
somehow I'm not shocked you missed it too... ;-)

Davis, who had five points in 23 minutes, looked peeved when he was replaced by Foye during a
third-quarter timeout. Davis left for the locker room, and assistant coach Rex Kalamian came after
him. Casey and James both claimed Davis had to visit the bathroom. He was back on the bench later in
the period, but James and teammate Justin Reed were each seen giving him pep talks.

"I didn't like his focus," Casey said, adding that he didn't think about putting Davis - the team's
second-leading scorer - back in again.

Lots of mistakes by a lot of players. BUT, it's the COACH(s) that dozed off.
Shoulda realized the situation. Reminds me of the Dennis Green School of
Clock Management.

Secondly,
After watching this game I have come to the following conclusion:
If KG had an injury and sat out 10 games, there would be a 10 game loosing
streak.
Probably ten 30 point losses.
Probably what the Wolves need.

Casey needs to go. I'm surprised he's still Coach of the team.

He was not knocked out of bounds. If 'Sheed fouled him it was before that. But 2 FTs would have
made Billups 3 a game winner. ;-)

Nah. Will not be that bad. Not like his being a head case is news. They suspended him 1 game for
leaving the bench. Besides...KG will kill him if he quits.

Dyess did not get suspended for the 'altercation' I hope the same proves true for KG.

I think Ricky has reasons to be upset. Foye has great talent but I
don`t get this urge to put the ball in his hands during the key moments
of the game. I also see Foye taking a lot of bad decisions, offensive
fouls, bad passes, airballs, yes sometimes he makes a great play but
overall I think it is too much for him to handle, at this time.
Jim Petersen tries to be diplomatic on TV, but he can`t help noticing
these things .
Overall, I like the team, Casey is a good guy, I like the rookies. But
it looks like 7 defeats in a row, right now.
The surpirse has been Blount : I don`t recall seeing a player improving
this much during a summer.
It`s incredible how He did not get the ball for a long stretch of time
against Detroit.

bye
