Wells says Kobe has refs on his side

The first play of the game was a foul on Wells, and Bryant went to the free
throw line. The second play of the game happened just eight seconds later,
and Wells went to the bench.

Wells remained in foul trouble and logged just five minutes after picking up
two fouls in the game's first 19 seconds. His third foul came just two
minutes into the second period, and his fourth was called barely two minutes
into the third.

"I was telling the young guys that I've never had that happen to me," Wells
said, joking about his night off after the game. "I usually laugh at guys
when it happens to them."

Wells's infractions happened while defending Bryant.

"Kobe's a great player," Wells said. "He's even better when he has the refs
on his team. "It's tough to sometimes guard two people at once."

the second quarter despite Bryant's poor shooting in the game.
