Too late for any prediction now, although I'm sure if they lost Anita
would have come in here after the game was over claiming he predicted the
loss. Of course, he's also fully capable of claiming that the win is
really a loss....
At any rate, they were able to get a decent mix of defense and offense,
neither one being overwhelming but good enough. In the first they were
way too careless with the ball, but did a great job protecting from then
on. Billups was solid coming back, and Saunders did a good job getting
Hunter and Stuckey into the rotation, with Stuckey doing a strong job
breaking down the Celtics defense. I still don't think the Pistons did
enough work to set picks and get their teammates free, but they were much
better than game 1.
Garnett and Pierce hit a bunch of tough shots, but they didn't get a lot
of gimmes, and the Pistons (especially McDyess) kept working on defense
even when the Celtics hit tough repeat turnarounds, and fortunately
nobody outside of their top three did much of anything. Rondo got way
too wound up and really hurt them.
The highlight was the end of the 4th, when the Pistons played smart,
clutch ball. Prince's inbounds to Billups and his score to make it a 5
point lead, Hamilton's offensive rebound, they were able to match
Boston's tough shots.
No guarantees that they'll win the next two, though. Boston is capable
of stealing one, but I think the Pistons would force them to overachieve
to do it.
