IMO, no.
I'm a big fan of both KG and Wally, but the competition at both
positions is fierce.
At PF, I'd go with Duncan, Dirk, Gasol and Brand over KG this season.
Of course, KG will make the team, but Gasol and Brand deserve it.
Wally actually has a little less competition at SF, with only Mcgrady,
Marion and Melo clearly better (although I don't like Melo's game and
would not even trade Wally for Melo). However, they'll probably take
an extra PF. *If* Wally had not had the 10 game funk at the beginning
of the season, he would deserve to beat out Melo . . .but he didn't.
My Western conference all star team would be:
Guards: Davis, Nash, Parker, Bryant, Ginobli
Forwards: Duncan, Dirk, Gasol, Brand, Mcgrady
Center: Ming, Camby
Eastern:
Guards: Billups, Iverson, Wade, Carter, Arenas
Forwards: Lebron, Pierce, O'Neal, Webber, Bosh
Center: Wallace, Shaq >> Stay informed about: Does anybody on the Wolves deserve All-Star status? |

Gasol over KG? Are you joking?
PPG, RPG, APG - BPG, SPG, FG%
KG - 21.7, 11.0, 4.8 - 1.5, 1.4, 54%
PG - 19.9, 9.5, 4.3 - 2.4, 0.6, 49%
Haha - yeah, Gasol deserves it over KG.

Those aren't slam dunk numbers in KG's favor. Those numbers are close,
and Gasol has the "intangibles". He's been more of an inside presence,
basically playing the way KG *should* play. He bangs in the paint and
gets to the line 7.8 times per game vs KG's 5.9. He's been more of a
presense on defense becoming a premier shotblocker and roaming the
paint. And he's leading a team that isn't much more talented than the
Wolves, but has a much better record.
I'd take Gasol, but I don't have any quams with KG being selected. The
travesty would be if KG is selected and Brand isn't.

I'll give you Gasol since it's already been discussed, but why not
Brand?

I think he has minus the first 10 or so games . . .and SF is pretty
week. But you can always slide one of the PFs onto the team instead,
and those first 10 games do count.

Dump Camby, move Duncan to center, insert KG, then decide
about another "popular" forward like Gasol, Brand, maybe
even Odom.

It's tough to take Ben Wallace off the list, but I think I'd
move Jermaine to Center, then add Dwight Howard. And
instead of Webber, go with Rasheed Wallace. >> Stay informed about: Does anybody on the Wolves deserve All-Star status? |

I would make those types of postion moves as well, and they make
perfect sense, but I went by the position players are grouped in on the
all star ballot. >> Stay informed about: Does anybody on the Wolves deserve All-Star status? |
