I watched most of the game against the Kings last night, and the
Wolves looked promising. McCants had a very nice game. Brewer
showed flashes of promise, and it was nice to see Walker starting
to get into the offensive flow with the Wolves. Jefferson continues
to look like the all-around best player on the team...if he can
improve on his defensive skills, he could be a really nice complete
package.
Personally, I think it's time to start Walker instead of Gomes.
Jaric is still a questionable starting PG, so the Wolves still need to
address that position, IMO. And Telafir is a bit of a stiff, IMO.
Ratliff seems to be over his injuries, but still has a ways to go to
live up to his potential, IMO.
Overall, a nice effort by the "new-look" Wolves.
I already enjoy watching this team over the lethargic and frustrated
bunch the Wolves had on the court the last couple of seasons.
Flush Jaric and trade for, or sign, a quality starting point guard,
and this Wolves roster could be well on their way to building a
decent team in a season or two.

Kind of harsh with Jaric. When did you become a hater Scott? Just
kidding. I saw Marko go to the floor late, after a loose ball, and he
made some nifty steals. I think the Walker, Craig Smith, Ryan Gomes
minutes jam will be a problem all year.I'd like the Wolves to develop
the young ones this year, and if the Wolves end up on the bottom of
the Northwest division so what. If the stars align perhaps the Hoyas
center could end up in Minnesota.
Rashad was really quick, and when he shot his 3's, he shot with a lot
of confidence, and seemed to make good decisions with the ball. That
was the big positive I took away from the telecast. I would like to
see more Chris Richard at 4, and Al at 5, and some Smith, Al, and C
Richard together to bruise up some teams. >> Stay informed about: First Wolves win - not bad |

I disagree with starting Walker over Gomes. This team is not going to
make the playoffs. There is no point in giving big minutes to vets
with no future here. This season is about developing players.
Not sure when Foye is going to be back, but the point guard situation
will be fine once he is starting.

I agree about the development of young players for the Wolves
right now, but do you really see that much potential for Gomes?
I just haven't seen it yet.
The Wolves should also at least *try* to win games, if they can, and
they may as well take advantage of Walker's talent while they can.

Hmmmm....I'm not sure Foye is the quality starting PG the Wolves need
either. He's definitely a good bench PG, but a quality starter? Not
sure about that one yet either. Besides, his blown knee doesn't bode
well for his future either, IMO.

Jaric himself says he can't play point guard, because he's not quick
enough to keep up with quicker opposing guards. I actually like
Jaric, he does some nice things on the court when he's got his head
straight (and his jersey on the right way). When Foye gets back,
Jaric won't find himself in bad match-ups at point guard.

Jefferson at center only seems to work when the other team goes small
too, but he's struggled a lot defensively against other centers. He
needs Ratliff, and the Wolves need some more tough guys over 6'9". >> Stay informed about: First Wolves win - not bad |
