Monica Naltner scored 17 points and had 16 boards in her second career
double-double.

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.Penn womens basketball defeated Rider, 77-65, Sunday afternoon
in Lawrenceville, N.J. Led by senior guard Joey Rhoads with 25 points (two shy of
her career high), Penn eclipsed last seasons game high-score of 76. Senior
tri-captain Monica Naltner registered her second career double-double behind 17
points and 16 rebounds.

The Quakers improved to 2-0, the best start for Penn since head coach Patrick
Knapps first season (2004-05). Riders record slipped to 0-3.

The Red and Blue started the game with a 10-2 run keyed by Naltner and Lauren
Pears. The Broncs chipped away at the Quakers lead and with 8:36 remaining in the
half took a one-point lead. They extended it to four before seven free throws
helped put Penn ahead by five going into the locker room.

Early in the second half, Pears found herself in foul trouble after taking two
quick penalties to add to one from the first half. Undaunted, the Quakers went on a
17-6 run to take a 20-point lead, their largest of the game. Sophomore Kelly Scott
contributed five points in the run and totaled nine off the bench for Penn.

Second chance points were big for Penn with 17 coming from the 28 team offensive
boards. The Quakers out-rebounded Rider 41-35 in the game.

The Red and Blue shot 56.7-percent in the second half and 49.2-percent in the game.
Defensively, Penn held Rider to 38.5-percent from the field. The Broncs were also
hurt by cold shooting from the charity stripe. The team was 9-18 while Ashley
Anderson, a force for Rider Sunday, was 0-5.

Penn opens its home slate against Big 5 rival La Salle (3-0) at The Palestra
Tuesday. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
