PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team
could not find its rhythm Friday night, and the Ivy League's top team took
advantage, building a large lead early and staying in control as Dartmouth
defeated the Quakers, 63-43, at The Palestra.

The Quakers (3-16, 1-5 Ivy) came out ice cold from the field in the first
half, going scoreless in the first 7:30 of the game. Dartmouth (15-4, 6-0
Ivy) capitalized on the poor shooting effort, and jumped out to a 23-4
lead with 7:52 remaining in the half.

Penn would never come closer than 10 points of the Big Green's lead for the
remainder of the game, as Dartmouth consistently hit shots and played solid
defense, limiting the Quakers to a mere 22.6 percent from the floor in the
second half and 24.6 percent for the game.

Senior Jennifer Fleischer was a bright spot for the Red and Blue on the
night, as she was stellar defensively in the paint in blocking a
season-high six shots (just one shy of her career high). Fleischer also
grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and had two steals.

Monica Naltner led Penn with nine points while Joey Rhoads added eight
points, two assists and two steals in the losing effort.

For Dartmouth, Ashley Taylor played a strong all-around game, scoring 21
points (including 10-for-10 at the free-throw line) to complement seven
rebounds and four blocks on the night. Sydney Scott added 11 points and
Fatima Kamara scored 10 for the Big Green, while Ivy League-leading scorer
Jeannie Cullen was held to just seven points but had a team-high four
assists.

The Quakers return to action Saturday night, taking on Harvard at 7 p.m. at
The Palestra.
