PHILADELPHIA--The University of Pennsylvania womens basketball team took on
regional foe Delaware at The Palestra Wednesday night, losing 73-49. Penns record
dropped to 2-2 while Delaware improved to 5-1.

Senior tri-captain Monica Naltner led all scorers with 25 points, setting her
career game-high. She was 7-12 from the field and a nearly perfect 10-11 from the line.

Free throws played a roll in the game as the Blue Hens sharp-shooter Tyresa Smith
was held to 3-11 from the field, but racked up 14 points off free throws. The
Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week led Delawares offense followed by
Chrissy Fisher with 15 points and Melissa Czorniewy with 11. Smith was closing in
on a double-double with 9 boards in the game.

Defensively, the Quakers were unable to beat the Hens to the ball and were
outrebounded 40-27. Naltner led Penns effort on the boards with seven rebounds.

The Hens also forced the Red and Blue into 25 turnovers and picked up 16 steals.

Down 34-18 at the half, Penn rallied in the second shooting 50-percent from the
field. The Quakers scored nearly twice as many points in the second and kept the
Hens closer with a 39-31 second-half score.

The Quakers wrap up their three-game homestand hosting Big 5 rival Villanova Sunday
at The Palestra. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. Fans can follow the game from home with
live stats at PennAthletics.com.
