But they just quietly succeeded at doing what we're begging ours to do
-- take out the trash.
Now they not only have to pay mega millions to guys like Marko Jaric
and Antoine Walker, but they got some decent players back (except for
one) who all expire in 2010 and a top draft pick as well in Kevin
Love. So I'm not sure how bad theirs sucks at the moment. I'd be
pretty damn happy if ours did that.
I find it hard to believe that a Knicks fan such as yourself would
believe that the better move would have been to keep a roster littered
with garbage and bad deals together in order to explore someone's
"potential" (in this case, Mayo).

Minnesota's loaded with youngsters. A semi-vet like Miller will
probably help to balance things, and if your argument was that they
needed outside shooting, I can't think of too many better available
candidates than Miller.

My point is that Mayo's a gamble. There's lots of hype right now but
there's no way to see how he'll pan out as an NBA player and a
defender. When you raise the stakes of that gamble to whether or not
you're going to have to pay scrubs like Jaric and Walker $20-30M in
order to try Mayo out, I'm not sure it's a really sensible decision.
Sure, he could work out great and you'll forever have to eat it. On
the other hand, if he doesn't work out, then where are you until
2011? With Jefferson, Miller, Love, Foye, and others in the lineup
Minny won't be that bad...and they are trying to rebuild right now as
opposed to contend immediately.

They went to the finals last year and took the eventual champs this
year to 7. Taking the BW contract was dumb, but I don't see them as
being so far out of the running that a team with almost nothing on it
looks better to LeBron.

Again, it remains to be seen what Jersey does with their cap space.
Right now they've got exactly ONE player under contract for 2010 --
Vince Carter at $17M. So the potential is there, but what is done
with it is anyone's guess.

Again, they've got one player and that's it. Let's see if they keep
Harris, if they keep Yi, etc...again, I don't see the Nets (who should
be the Brooklyn Nets by that point) as a lock for LJ.

Whole lotta speculation in that statement to be throwing around
statements that basically say it's a done deal.

Yeah, but that says nothing. Is anyone farther?

Not so sure he needs a big market. You're talking about a guy who
Nike paid $110M to before he'd played a single game for the Cleveland
Cavaliers. He's going to get his endorsement money even if he plays
for the Memphis Grizzlies.
