Archived from groups: alt>sports>basketball>pro>ny-knicks (more info?)

I don't know D'Antoni's game but everyone says he's an offensive
minded coach, so I'll take that at face value.

I have to admit after years watch the 90's Knick "brawl ball" was fun,
but it was only fun when you're winning. But now the Knicks are a
bunch of losers it's probably fun to watch some "offense" if D'Antoni
can deliver that is.

I do missed the 70s and early 80s days when teams actually run
offensive plays. No it's not "dump it to the post and spread out",
nor is it "swing back out to shoot a three." I'm talking about real
offensive plays like pass;pick-n-roll;pass (while a cutter goes low);
option to pass to the cutter (if open) or swing around; another cutter
goes low, and someone else on other side plants his feet for open
15-footer; ball carrier first option is to see if the cutter loses the
defender and wide open, or swing to opn 15-footer for a jumper. Yes,
that's just ONE play but a pretty play. Everyone's involved.

I'm kind of tire of watching 10 years of passive basketball where only
2 plays seem to exist: dump it to the post, or shoot a three.
