Yeah, I was just thinking about how it all worked out the way I had
hoped. Except for Chauncey's injury and the odd lapses against
Philly, that is, but in terms of match-ups, it's what I wanted.

Now

I would rather worry about rust than worry about being tired,
especially given the minutes some of the starters, especially Tayshaun
and Rip, played in the last couple of Orlando games.

My gut tells me it will be Boston, but in a game 7, you just

I wouldn't be surprised to see either team win, but if I had to pick I
would say the Celtics just because home court has been such a big deal
in this round, and for Boston especially. And honestly, the Celtics
coulda/shoulda won game 6 but a few key calls went Cleveland's way.

In either case, I'm hoping that this series will be physically and
psychologically draining on the winner.

In the regular season, we did better against the Cavs. That's
probably deceptive in that the Cavs are a somewhat different team and
are playing better now, whereas the Celtics look a lot more mortal
than they did in the regular season.

I agree I would prefer to have home court, although if we are rusty,
maybe better to get that out of our system in a road game (and, if the
other team is tired, maybe better to steal the first one on the road
rather than just hold serve).

As to personnel, as you say, the Cavs lost Gibson, although I haven't
heard whether he'll be able to play in the ECF. For the Celtics, it
was interesting to see that Sam C. got NO minutes in game 6. I wonder
if Boston has completely lost confidence in him.

Of course there are good story lines either way -- revenge for last
year (Cavs) or beating the team with the best record in the NBA
(Celtics).

Bottom line, I don't have a real preference (beyond seeing game 7 go
to triple OT). I just hope Chauncey is 100%, that Stuckey continues
his good play, that Maxiell can continue to bring energy, that McDyess
continues his scoring and rebounding groove, and that somebody can
play some productive minutes at backup SF.

Chris Paul would blow by Chauncey, but then again Paul would blow by
anybody. San Antonio is familiar but still scary because they've done
it so many times. Much as I don't like LA, you have to say that with
the addition of Gasol they are very, very good.

I can't choose. If Detroit doesn't win it all, my second choice would
be NO, because I like Paul as a player and it's a good story (and some
new blood). On the other hand, beating the Spurs would be revenge for
2005, and would be beating the signature team of the last 5 years or
so. On the other, other hand, beating LA would be very satisfying
because I just don't like them. -- Joe

I'm really not interested in seeing Cleveland again, not that they are a
threat, just bored with them.

Boston is interesting and I feel a good opponent. People rave about
Garnett, Allen and Pierce but that man in the middle isn't bad either.
Perkins has proven himself just as valuable to that line up. He's a
legitimate hardnosed center.

Ratliff against Perkins.
Prince against Pierce.
Rip against Allen
Sheed against Garnett.

Damn that's entertainment!

And we do want to beat the best don't we?

As was I. I was hoping Cavs/Celtics would beat up on each other and
that's what is happening. The only drawback is that Boston is
learning how to play with each other and could come out of this more
effective.

I think this rest is good for the team especially Chauncey and it is
not so long that there would be much rust. The worst thing for them
is probably sitting around and wondering do we get on the plane or do
we stay home?

It is unfathomable to me why the best road team in the NBA hasn't won
any road games in two rounds of the playoffs. But they won 66 games
to get home court so they'd better not waste it, like Detroit did last
season.

That's my thinking as well.

Pistons swept the Spurs and split with the Lakers and Spurs. If the
Pistons win the ECF, then I'd rather they face the Hornets because
they would bring a better bench and more experience all the way around
and the Hornets haven't won a road game in the second round yet
either. Lakers would the more difficult team to beat but I believe
that's who will win the west.

Perkins is a starter, Ratliff is not. McDyess would probably play
against Perkins. If Ratliff got in the game it would probably be
against Powe.

Perkins is Legit center, Mcdyss is NOT!
Ratliff will get the most minutes against him or we lose...

You place a questionable power forward who's performances haven't been
grand lately against a bull of Celtic. Ratliff has the long body,
jumping ability and arms to make Perkins completely defunk.

So Perkins is our biggest worry? I'm glad you're not coaching... So
glad!!!... Dwight Howard is much more a threat than Perkins could ever
be and Dyess, Sheed, etc did fine against him. I see Big Baby Davis
being more of a problem than Perkins. Big Baby was the one that got
them the win here at the Palace during the season.

I know I shouldn't but . . . Have you been watching how McDyess has
been playing in the last several games? I mean, Ratliff is a useful
4th big in spots, but did you really want to change a major part of
our rotation in the ECF and take out a guy registering double-doubles
in the last round, because we're worried about matching up with
Kendrick f'n Perkins? Hey, why not replace Rip with Afflalo (no diss
Aaron, I love you) because we want to match Rondo's youth? -- Joe
