3 teams racing sideways toward the playoffs
as for tonight, I think the problem was a little more then an empty
gas tank.
Portland's offense is remedial at best, and when they face a team that
plays good team and individual defense, the offense really stinks.
None of the teams they've beaten lately play good defense....not even
the Wolves.
Since Walton mentioned it tonight I won't say a thing about Damon's
"ovedribbling"...).....instead I'll point out that he is a poor point
guard in terms of creating opportunities for teamates, and against a
team like the Pacers who challenge both ball and player movement, a
creative point guard is essential.
but in fairness, a good deal of the "blame" for tonight's poor offense
has to reside with the coaching staff. They have to implement some
kind of offense that has more motion then 8 eyes watching damon (and
Anderson) dribble around the perimeter.
Gill actually penetrated and dished off a few times tonight
tonight....nice to see that changeup
oh well....golden opportunity wasted.
Tell you what though, I'll bet both Minnesota and Sacremento are
hoping that it's either the Nuggets or Jazz in #8. Neither wants the
Blazers there.
