Also, I saw her play in the High School Title game a few years back.
She was atleast 60 pounds heavier but that works to her advantage in a
way. She over powers the opponent and wears them down. She was going
up against Misty Bass who one of the biggest recruits in the country
from that season. Now Misty had I think about 17 points and maybe 8
rebounds, Janel had 25 points and 17 rebounds. She may not look like
she is in the best of shape but if you saw her in HS, you would think
much differently now. Also, Minnesota would have never made it to the
Final Four with out her. She dominated against Duke and had a good
game against UCONN. Now, she is only 6-2, averages a double double,
and is one of the best big players around the country in my opinion.
She passes tremendously. So what she cried. Big deal. I remember
Holdsclaw cried during her final game. In sports, when your season is
over and you had a great season, you generally would cry because you
came so far and you were so close to winning the whole thing. Janel
McCarville may not be the thinnest or best player in the world, but
she can play better than most people anywhere and nobody can deny
that.
