to watch a player in janel mccarville who is so unathletic and in my opinion
not at all in good physical shape try to play basketball. but it even
funnier to watch her cry after loosing the final 4 game against uconn. what
gives with the crying? u did not see john lucas III break into tears
yesterday when his oklamoma state lost in a heart breaker to georgia tech.
tom hanks stated so well in the movie "a league of our own" when he said
that there is no crying in baseball. well there should likewise be no crying
in basketball. it is only a game and not something worth crying like a baby
about.

Her mother is battling colon cancer. She rescheduled chemotherapy
treatments in order to make it to the game. I don't think it's all that
difficult to understand why Janel would have gotten a little emotional
after the loss knowing that.

This was all stated pretty clearly during the broadcast -- by real, live
people, incidentally, not by fictional characters from a movie whose
title you couldn't even get right.

And it's spelled "losing," not "loosing." Surprising that you can't
spell it. Seems like a word you'd be pretty familiar with.

No go crawl back under the rock you emerged from.

u did not address the fact as to why jamel's physical conditioning is
lacking? she looked a good 20 to 30 lbs overweight

From the sounds of it MN gets the kind of fan suport in their home
state that UCONN has enjoyed ever since they first made an impact in
the Final Four (it's cold outside and there's nothing else to do but
watch basketball). I have a feeling that the players on this year's MN
team have paved the way for some good recruiting and future success for
their school's WBB team.

If you're playing in your FINAL game, andl ose it short of the ultimate
goal...you know you'll NEVER put on that uniform again that you've worn for 4
years...wouldnmt you be emotional? I can understand the crying. You point on
John Lucas who transferred from Baylor but you fail to mention Chris Duhon who
played all 4 years at Duke, cried, and was VERY emotional after losing to UConn
in the Final 4. I't's normal and there's nothing wrong with it, it's good to
show how much it meant in fact.

But in some cases, like with Augustus last night...she'll be back so the tears
were a little too much in that case. But for seniors, it's VERY understandable.

The player she reminded me of was the round mound of rebound himself,
Charles Barkley. Criticized for being out of shape early in his career
but combined endurance, footwork, and skills to be an inside and outside
threat.

i wonder is crying something which u find only in the "major" college sports
and if so why? i can recall that as a track and field and cross country
athlete in a division III school back in the mid 70's that not a single
member of our team broke down in tears when we lost the conference title by
3 points in both cross country and track. could it be that we were just
mentally tougher?

D3 track and field conference championships compared to D1 BB
championships? I guess you could start with the amount of sacrifice and
dedication it takes to reach those two levels of competition in the US.

If you were mentally tough you would have been D1 athletes competing
for National championships.

Also, I saw her play in the High School Title game a few years back.
She was atleast 60 pounds heavier but that works to her advantage in a
way. She over powers the opponent and wears them down. She was going
up against Misty Bass who one of the biggest recruits in the country
from that season. Now Misty had I think about 17 points and maybe 8
rebounds, Janel had 25 points and 17 rebounds. She may not look like
she is in the best of shape but if you saw her in HS, you would think
much differently now. Also, Minnesota would have never made it to the
Final Four with out her. She dominated against Duke and had a good
game against UCONN. Now, she is only 6-2, averages a double double,
and is one of the best big players around the country in my opinion.
She passes tremendously. So what she cried. Big deal. I remember
Holdsclaw cried during her final game. In sports, when your season is
over and you had a great season, you generally would cry because you
came so far and you were so close to winning the whole thing. Janel
McCarville may not be the thinnest or best player in the world, but
she can play better than most people anywhere and nobody can deny
that.

First of all, you're comparing a woman crying to a MAN not crying? Get
real.

And if you think Janel McCarville is unathletic, let's see you do what
she does.

McCarville is just a junior. They're already saying she'll be one of the
best college players in the country next season. She made the Kodak
All-America team too this year.

Yeah, she's soooooo unathletic.
