The current SLAM magazine has a spiffy picture of Carmelo Anthony on the
cover. It has a feature on Gilbert Arenas, and the player-coach of the
issue is E. Jordan shooting a jumper as a Cavalier. "Eddie never was an
All-Star or anything, but he did lead the L in total steals in 78-79."
So why wasn't he an All-Star? Jordan also to Rutgers to the Final Four,
which is Bill Bradley-like.
You can tell Carmelo's life has changed just from the pictures. He's had
so many cameras in his face his smiles looked forced. Oh well...
Arenas is whacked, which I think is a good trait for a PG, but I don't
know about the Artest-like technicals total.
There's a set of training videos for sale in the back of SLAM, "Better
Basketball". The featured NBA player in the ad is Gilbert Arenas, who
endorses thusly... "I am currently training with the Better Basketball
system to improve my game. These videos will take you to the next level".
There's also a 12-year-old Hispanic dribbling phee-nom in the ad. In the
emails-to-the-editor section, SLAM highlight's these remarks from a fan...
"I'm praying Gilbert Arenas sticks to those Better Basketball video tapes
after signing with my Wiz so he can take them with him 'to the next
level'. Hell, the Wizards could probably use the 12 year old in that ad,
too."
Ha. Ha ha <slaps knee>.
One of the basketball annuals has a few NBA all-city teams, like Kobe is
on the Philly team. I think DC got short-changed. If you consider the area
DC is the closest NBA town to as DC, we get Carmelo (Baltimore) and I
believe AI. Who else? Who is the all-DC-Baltimore-VA team?
