You guys see the new divisions?

I'm wondering why Phoenix is in the Pacific and we're not. Not that I care
to be in the same division as the Lakers, but it seems pretty strange that a
pacific coast team isn't in the Pacific division.

How about a team from Minnesota in the Northwest division?

Maybe they can get a sponsorship deal from Northwest Airlines.
I think they have a hub in Minneapolis-St Paul.

This Northwest division would be a heck of a race if it was in effect
this season. As of tonight:

Denver......13-6
Utah........11-7
Portland....10-7
Minnesota...11-8
Seattle......9-7

I think it probably went something like this:

1) Charlotte goes in the East. no-brainer

2) One East team now has to switch to the West. New Orleans is the
best choice.

3) With NO in the West, it makes sense to group them and Memphis in with
the three Texas teams.

4) Now the last step is to divide the remaining ten West teams into two
groups of five, and the alignment they came up with makes the most sense.

How about the five midwestern teams that aren't in the Midwest
division?

This is what they should have done in the West:

Mega-Market Division
Golden State
LA Lakers
LA Clippers
Dallas
Houston

Mid-Market Division
Denver
Minnesota
Phoenix
San Antonio
Seattle

Mini-Market Division
Memphis
New Orleans
Portland
Sacramento
Utah

not a bad idea actually. It's comparable to the way the NCAA divides the
big daddies from the smaller schools. Problem is, divisional play is
usually stressed more. Then again, if anyone from the mini-market division
won it all, it'd be a story for the masses. Like Hoosiers.
