He is a free agent. They have not as yet re-signed him.

I see it more as the Lakers just don't need him enough to make it
worth paying him 4.2 million per year. He only plays a handful of
minutes per game. Maybe in Oakland he will be able to be a starter? I
think Rony would rather play than watch from the bench? I think this
is the best thing for Rony. LAL will be fine. Andrew will be back and
we still have Chris Mihm to fill in for a few minutes. WE can always
sign a Dbenga type too if need be. I am not worried and am happy for
Rony.

Go Lakers!

He played twice the minutes, and that was a major problem. He was
arguably the worst player on the court for the Lakers during the Finals.

The Odom decision is pretty much made, isn't it? Are they going to
trade ALL their backup PFs?

And it was a lot worse than that.
They are in the tax next year and likely in the tax still unless they let
Odom walk, and then the next year they have to add another big contracts to
give Bynum an extension so not sure when they will get under the tax line.

Ronny's contract was front loaded to 5 mil next year.
So 5+5 next year, even if they got under the tax after next year that
averages out to 5.5 million for the 4 years equal to a MLE. But if still 4+4
the following year then paying an average of 6.5 for the 4 years.
If well over the tax line all 4 years it averaged out to 8.5 mil per.

Talk to Jackson about that one. =)
But overall in the playoffs I thought he was serviceable and helped a lot
against the spurs.

Finals Game 1 playing bad was a team effort...

But game two in Boston Rad played 30 minutes, he was 5-12 for 13 pts,
including 3-7 threes and had 10 rbs and 2 asts.
He was plus 9 when on the floor to Odom's minus 13 in that game.
Ronny played 9 minutes was 2-2 for 4 pts, 2 fouls and zero in every other
stat and minus 12

Next game he was bad in the lakers win but only played 12 minutes.
he was 1-4 but then kobe was 12-20 and the rest of the starters 7-28.
Ronny played 19 minutes was 0-1, had 0 rebounds again, 2 blocks and 3 fouls

Game 4 Rad got 10 points on 3-8 including 2-5 on 3s and 2-2 FTs and 5 rbs.
he was minus 1
Ronny in 10 minutes was 0-1 and 0-2 on FTs 1 rb and one block

In the Game 5 win in 19 min Rad had 7 pts on 3-6 5rbs, 2 asts and a steal.
Lakers were plus 20.
Ronny played 1.5 min and had 1 ofensive foul for a TO.

And well game 6 was game 6...

Is it? I have only heard talk of them trading him for another ending
contract.
Artest has already asserted he wants an extension.

I am sure they will have an adequate roster of role players.

Not really. You can't ask a guy to forego the only real payday he'll ever
get out of loyalty, and he showed enough in working back and contributing
to consider the debt more than squared for me.

And the thing is, even before the tax the offer was close to twice what
he's worth. He's a $2-2.5M guy who would have cost us $10M this year and
close to $8M per afterwards. That's just poor management if you do that.

Bingo. To argue for matching Ronny is really to argue for undoing the
Gasol deal, as that is why matching him becomes idiotic.

Well it's technically true that they have nobody else at that level in the
post, but that's only because Biedrins is about 10x as good as Ronny.

Biedrins is a bench player on most teams. Unlike most people here, I
actually attend and watch quite a few Warrior games every year.
Biedrins is about as soft as they come, and he's not much of a scorer
either. It would be none too surprising to see him lose his job to
Ronny. Not that this will happen, but don't say I didn't tell ya if it
does. Biedrins isn't 10x better than anyone. Talk about an overstatement.
