the last 3 times GT has made a regional final, it's been very frustrating:

1987: rick pitino bombs us our superior Big East champs out of the gym
with three little guards, including billy donovan, hoisting three
pointers. lucky little bastards. credit pitino for recognizing the
revolutionary nature of the easy three point line before anyone else did.

1989: the refs help senior danny ferry and freshman christian laettner
beat our clearly better Mourning/Mutumbo Hoyas team in the east finals.
lucky bastards.

1996: john caliperi's cheatenous Umass team (they would later get
stripped of their final 4 berth) beat us with a couple no-name guards
bombing our clearly more talented hoyas team out of the gym.

so we're freaking overdue! sadly, carolina is a little better. we'll
probably lose again.

Good on GU! That was some comeback, and the gubmint school from North
Carolina went into an astounding funk in the last part of the 2nd
half, which continued in the OT.

I'm glad to see the Big East is in the FF, but even gladder that at
least one private school made it in. Now, just beat all those @#%*&!
tax-eating state schools!

True. In fact the only Asian I can ever remember JT recruiting was Arren

One good thing about a Jesuit education is that one learns to make
verbs agree with their subjects and objects.

There's nothing more thuggish than a state legislature robbing money
from me to fund a school I don't want to go to.

I have no idea if the GU program is "dirty," or dirtier than the one
you root for. Sounds like sour grapes, to me.

Agreed. They run that backdoor really very well. Gotta appreciate that,
'cause it's not that easy to do or coach (something about discipline). They
have a really good squad and they've been off the radar screen since the
Lonzo was there. Let 'em be. Besides, I haven't seen anything to
substantiate the "dirty" claim. Hell, Hansboro played the entire game and
his nose didn't explode once. He wasn't so lucky agin another team.

The coach is a pussy, and his team mirrored his personality.

Georgetown sucks. I might have to pull for a Big Ten school or a Pac Ten
school for the first time. Georgetown echoes all that is wrong with college
ball. Inner city thugs, etc. Why don't we just hire mercenaries? That's
what schools like Georgetown does.

How did they practice racial discrimination?

I'm hardly a Georgetown homer, but the way they came down from 9 down
w/8 minutes left, and won it in overtime, to get payback finally, 25
years later--full marks.

And don't think that the Georgetown players were not aware of that
1982 GU-UNC game.

I'd disagree with your planted assumption that having the government
run education benefits anyone. I see it as a detriment to society.
School and state ought to be as separate as church and state or press
and state. Of course, if you happen to be an employee of a state
edumacational facility, you may be an interested party. Cui bono?

Using "if" is pefectly fine in informal speech and writing. Whether I
would use that construction in a more formal setting is another
matter.

Can you elaborate a bit on this? Are you for separation of education and
state because you don't want the state injecting its philosophies on
education or because you think privatized education would be of higher
quality and/or cheaper? Or some third reason I don't mention?
