1. Brandon Roy (POR)
23.0 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 3.3 APG, 3.00 SPG, .553 FG%, 7-10 3PT in 3 games
The Rookie Report took the week off when Brandon Roy returned from his injury. His play picked up
right where he left off and when we returned, Roy returned to the Top 10, re-debuting at No. 9. A
week later, he was up to No. 7. Last week, he was at No. 5.
While Roy continued to do his thing, we kept an eye on his game totals (compared to the rest of the
Top 10) and let him slowly move up the rankings. But we can't hold back any longer. Brandon Roy is
the best rookie in the league, head and shoulders above anybody else right now.
Last night, he capped the best week any rookie has had so far with the game-sealing bucket against
the Bucks. And it wasn't the first time (nor will it be the last) he made a big play down the
stretch.
Of course, Andrea Bargnani certainly has the skills and the size to be the best player out of the
2006 Draft somewhere down the line, but when it comes to being consistent and clutch, he's got
nothing on Roy right now.
