Remember the statement that he was going to score 50 against the Suns
and the Blazers because D'Antoni and MacMillian were the coaches on the
national team that... didn't even cut him, but gave him a face-saving
out, as td so astutely predicted?
Just look at today's boxscore: 9 points, 5 turnovers, 3-15 shooting, 2
assists, 0-8 from 3 point range in a blowout loss to the Blazers. In
Washington, no less.
I'm sure he'll score 60 tomorrow, but for now, eat some crow you puke. >> Stay informed about: Have some humble pie, Gilbert |

Too bad he's only 24, third in the league in scoring, leading a no
defense playing undermanned, no center Washington team to one of the
top records in the conference...

This doesn't for any reason make me unhappy.
It does make me very happy that an arrogant jerk got his come-uppance at
the hands of a spunky team and a classic hardworking overachiever in
Jarrett Jack.

This is really personal for you, I guess. I have no idea why. If it were
Kobe, would you be laughing with everyone else? >> Stay informed about: Have some humble pie, Gilbert |

Not personal. I don't know Gil and he doesn't put any money in my
family's pocket. Just disagree with the assessment, which as an
attorney you should recognize that I am entitled to do. Doesn't make
it personal. I like Gil's game. I haven't seen him bum rush a fan in
the stands yet, beat his wife or kids, drop his pants and moon the
crowd, or give less than 100% effort on the floor. So I'm not ready
to classify him with Randy Moss, Rueben Patterson, Melo, Kobe, or Ron
Ron which to me it appears the bulk of the rest of you are doing and
won't admit it. He ran his mouth and didn't back it up. So did
David Robionson pryor to the Spurs V Blazers one year. The only
thing that irks me is that you don't see that you all are lumping him
in the same category as the group I mentioned above. I'm not putting
Gilbert in Robinson's class by any stretch, but expect intelligent
people to recognize the degree of said transgression(s) as opposed to
"other things". I expect more from intelligent folks as yourself.

I come from a sport where showing public disrespect for a judge or any show of bad sportsmanship
would get you suspended for a minimum of 3 months...the equivalent of 20 games since our 'season' is
a year. I do not make my living at this sport but many people do.

Dichau, and it was his call since he had the ball....but he missed the layup and Aldridge tipped it
in. And McMillan normally would have been upset but I did not hear anything about it. The play by
play says they got it with 24 seconds left so perhaps the shot clock was still on and he did not
want it as another turn over.

Some blazer did that to Denver one time because the crowd was chanting for their food at 100
points... back when that was a new thing. The denver coach was really pissed but when it was
explained to him (and after the Portland player and coach apologized) he asked for coupons so they
could have chalupas on the way to the airport in the team bus...=)

Nobody's said it.
Babe Ruth became a legend for calling a shot. Imagine if he called it
six months in advance for some perceived personal slight and then struck
out on three pitched balls. I'd laugh. Sadistic glee at the spectacle of
the arrogant brought down to the level of the common has been a social
hallmark of every society since the Hebrews wrote a story about a giant
and a kid with a slingshot.

The "they made up" article...
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2763866
But after their meeting Monday, Jordan said he and and Arenas had worked things out.
"What's important is that Gil and I got together and talked, and things are very, very positive,"
Jordan said.
"The way we finished our meeting you would have never known something bad had been written," Arenas
told The Washington Times. "Everybody is on the same page. The air is cleared."
He also told the Times that Jordan's criticism of his leadership didn't bother him.
"Eddie has been trying to groom me into a leader since I got here," Arenas told the newspaper. "As a
player it's hard for me because when you are a leader you have to have a perfect air about you. My
leadership is different. I'm not going to be the guy who speaks up all the time. My role is to keep
the locker room loose. At the same time I put the pressure on myself and try to take it off of the
other guys. But in our locker room there is no question who the leader is. It's Antawn. So no, I
didn't take offense to what Eddie said."
Jamison, who has missed five games with a knee injury, also took Arenas aside for a talking-to.
Arenas has one of the most colorful personalities in the league and often speaks his mind, but this
was going too far.
"I talked to him," Jamison said. "He's like a little brother you've got to spank every once in a
while. I put him in the closet and whooped his [butt] last night."
"He's just frustrated of late," Jamison said. "He knows he made some mistakes, and he's going to do
everything possible to patch things up and go out there and do something on the court. ... He's got
to understand that he's one of the well-known basketball players in the NBA, so no matter what is
said and done, he's definitely under a microscope, and he just has to be more cautious and choose
what comes out of his mouth. He realizes that." >> Stay informed about: Have some humble pie, Gilbert |

I don't see it that way at all. It's consistent.
