"Dear Jerry, Steve, Amare and Mike:

Please share this message with the Suns team in their drive to playoff
success in the 2005 NBA Playoffs. I believe it can help inspire them to
win a World Championship. :)

In 36 years of professional basketball, the Phoenix Suns have yet to
win an NBA Title. From the coin flip to John Paxson, something or
someone has often gotten in the way of the Suns plans for a
Championship. Whether admitted or not, this franchise is haunted by
playoff failures of the recent past. As a matter of personal opinion, I
believe the John Paxson three-pointer took the wind out of the Suns
franchise for over a decade, and they are just now beginning to
recover.

The Suns need to look deep within themselves and determine why winning
an NBA Championship is so important to this franchise (and this city).
They need to look at the past champions, including Michael, Magic and
Larry and determine what made them stand out from the crowd. What made
them special and unique. What made them champions.

As a long-time fan of the Suns, I implore them to dedicate the playoffs
to playing tenacious defense, offensive rebounding and fastbreak
offense. The Suns need to learn how to play like World Champions. For
when the Suns finally win an NBA Title, the bitter memories of the
Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and John Paxson will have finally faded
away into history.

This team has the talent, the drive, the passion, the desire and the
heart to win it all. As the playoffs approach, they need to play as a
unit and let the naysayers remain silent by their tremendous efforts on
the basketball court.

Jerry Colangelo and the Suns have put together a tremendously gifted
and talented team. Now they just need to win that first NBA Title. When
the chips are down and things aren't always shining, remember the NBA
Trophy and that empty trophy case at America West Arena. And remember
the banners that rest atop the arena. There's always room for one more.

Sincerely,

Paul Panks
Suns fan since 1982"

I'd love to see the suns do it, but there are a lotta variables, and the
Suns have no track record. Bench is pivotal, & with Jackson-Hunter and
Barbosa all playing well it's encouraging. Also, there is always the
possibilty of an unforseen injury, or reliable players unexperienced and
not adjusting, stinking it up in the post season. A Spurs-Suns matchup
for the WC title would be perfect.
