I thought that the persistent booing of Tim Thomas from the onset of
the game by Bucks fans was pretty classless.

The guy was traded. Give him a break.

It's Milwaukee, what do you expect from a bunch of beer-guzzling,
high-school drop-outs?

No surprise there.

I always enjoy it when I hear about 'class' at sporting events.

I was wondering about that. Then I realized TT was considered the
"savior" of the Bucks when he was drafted. So that might explain some
of it....

Maybe the fact they he so underperformed in Milwaukee and never lived up to
expectations. Thomas for Van Horn was a trade for two under-performing
forwards. Maybe a change of scenery will help. Van Horn seems to be doing
alright. He was booed by Knick Fan because they liked the guy that was
traded away for him.

Knick Fan has a history of booing players not because of anything the player
had done, but because of who he was traded for. I seem to remember a
certain former G.M. of the Knicks making a trade with Toronto a few years
ago when the same thing happened.

How many NBA games have you attended this season? Attending these games are
not cheap. When I watch the Bucks in New Orleans, it's $59 a seat for the
wife and I, $4 for a soda and $3 for popcorn. If a player has a $67 million
dollar contract, or whatever it was, and I'm laying out a C-note-and-a-half
to see the game, I'll boo whoever and whenever I want.

Why would Thomas have been the "savior" of the Bucks when he was drafted?
He wasn't drafted by Milwaukee.

Come on. A plentitude of former Knicks players got booed when they
returned to the Garden. Eisley I believe was one. NY fans who hate a
player will boo him if that player returns.

I guessw this guy didn't know that, but still offered his opinion. I

Good point. The game has gone commercial and very expensive. I believe that
Thomas was booed because of all the "potential" that he was said to have,
but the lack of stepping up to the potential. However, taking Michael Redd
into consideration, there is a guy who has had potential and is stepping up.
The fallout of the TJ Ford injury has proved devastating for this team and
Brevin Knight is no help as a point guard who does not push the ball, pose
any driving threat, or run an effective offense. It is hard to say if the
Bucks pull out of this self-destruct mode and start playing ball again. The
Knicks loss was a horrible example of basketball and these guys gotta get
their act together.

I believe I recall the MSG folk chanting "Keith Van Horn" or something
like that during the early losing streak of the Knicks after the
trade.

I was somewhat surprised that he was booed, but he made it clear he
didn't want to be in Milwaukee at the end of last season. That alone
will get you booed.

First of all, Knick fans have always been crass. Conveniently
ignoring the shameful, relentless booing of Patrick Ewing all
those years ago, eh?

Second, Tim Thomas got his sorry ass booed because he was tremendously
overpaid -- which always creates resentment even if the player performs
decently -- and because he didn't put forth the effort to match his
raw talent. Look at what his ex-teammates have had to say about him.
Cassell, Ray Allen, George Karl....they all said he was lazy, as if
he viewed his payday like welfare.

Isiah Thomas was a fool to burden the Knicks with a slothful bum like
Tim Thomas. However, I am glad that it means more suffering for the
starving Knick fans.

Okay, serious Captain present.

Other than Eisley (which was unfair BTW), I don't remember any Knicks
who left under amiable circumstances getting booed every time they
touched the ball like with Thomas. Maybe Charles Smith. Was Childs
booed?

Of course, there's always Pat the Rat but there was nothing amiable
about his departure.

I do remember watching historic Knicks such as Oak, Starks, Ewing,
Mase, and Spre return to the Garden with ovations.
