Curious that everyone, including the Wolves who had Rasho in the fold,
considered Kandi to be worth less money than Nesterovic.
The Spurs could have gone after Kandi straight up, but chose not too.
Rasho has more skills than Kandi. He also has more legitimate size
than Rose. Rose gets great numbers as a bench player, but would be
exposed as a starter if he was consistently playing guys seven inches
taller than him. >> Stay informed about: Looking at moves by the 29 NBA teams |

What makes you think Wolves considered Kandi worth less than Rasho. Fact
is they did not want to pay Rasho or Kandi the kind of money that Spurs
offered Rasho.

Sez you and other clueless Spurs jockers, nobody else.

The question is whether Rose can get 12/8, which was the only criterion
you said was important. For that matter, could Kandi get 12/8 or
something equivalent? Can you say Rasho is worth twice more than Kandi? >> Stay informed about: Looking at moves by the 29 NBA teams |

At 45 mils for 6 years, that's close to a superstar salary.

If you just want serviceable centre, you might as well get of those Bulls'
Scott Williams/Stacey King/Luc Longely kind of center by committee deals.
At least you have three guys with three pairs of fresh legs every game and
they are much cheaper than Nesterovic's price tag. >> Stay informed about: Looking at moves by the 29 NBA teams |

42 mill over 6 years is 7 mill a year-this is not superstar money, or
even close. 12 mill a year is superstar money. 6 mill is basic
starter money.

Serviceable centers even have a high price tag. Look at what Raf
LaFrentz and Brad Miller just signed. >> Stay informed about: Looking at moves by the 29 NBA teams |

$6 million per is indeed basic starter money for centers. Now, Nesterovich may
not be Sean Rooks, but he's still pretty decent. My second Official 2003-04
Prediction: he will outplay Olowakandi, easily.

Miller's more than just "serviceable," I think: he made an all-star out of a
one-dimensional player like Jermaine O'Neal, and plays Shaq as well as anybody
in the league.

Other thing that makes me think Rasho is a bargain-he has an average
starters salary today. In 3 to 6 years, he will likely be a great
bargain, as the average will go up faster than his contract.

I think it was the other way around-O'neal made an all-star out of
Miller. Brad Miller is a decent player, but I think he is not truly
an all-star caliber player. 13 and 8 in the East does not, at all,
impress me. >> Stay informed about: Looking at moves by the 29 NBA teams |

And also agree here, Miller >> Nesterovic. I would not be surprised to see
J. O'Neal drop off as you imply here.

Good point. Maybe if I get the energy, I'll calculate the median salaries
going back a few years to see what the trend looks like.

Well, Miller's job in Indy was to cover O'Neal's ass on defense, and to help
clear the lane for O'Neal on offense. It wasn't his job to score, nor will it
be his job in Sac. (Individual rebounding numbers aren't measures of anything
at all -- only team rebounding numbers mean something.)
If I am right about Miller, O'Neal will have a worse season this year with
Pollard than he did last year.

I think anything over the 8.5 points and 7.9 rebounds Robinson
was getting last year is pure gravy. >> Stay informed about: Looking at moves by the 29 NBA teams |

Well, I think Rasho will have to score more, as he will be allowing
more points defensively >> Stay informed about: Looking at moves by the 29 NBA teams |

And, you hope, without losing too awfully much of the defense of DR. Every
move they made makes it look like they will be better on offense and worse
on defense than before.
