Report: Miles, Blazers nearing deal
Courtside Monday Night's Mike Barrett dispelled rumors that Darius Miles and
the Blazers have agreed to a contract tonight (he didn't name names, but
would only say an 'insider' called to let him know...Nash?), but he did say:
"Things are moving in the right direction. Hopefully something will be done
in the next 48 hours or so."
Other local media reports, including KGW-TV and Sports Radio 1080 The Fan,
are suggesting the deal will be for multiple years. But at least one of
those outlets is also saying this deal is done, so...
More rumors from Courtside Monday Night: Barrett and Mike Rice spoke with
Sonics beat writer and espn.com contributor Frank Hughes.
Hughes suggested the Sonics might be willing to swap an increasingly
frustrated Ray Allen to Portland for Shareef Abdur-Rahim, especially if it
becomes clear Allen will not accept anything less than a max-contract
extension from his current team. |

what's the word on the wally deal, not going to happen now? I like ray, I
think he'd be a great addition... we need a reliable shooter... a clutch
shooter. I hope we sign miles, but if we don't, then a guy like wally
would be excellent.
yea, it was ron pivo who announced the miles deal on the local news.
sounded pretty optimistic that it was essentially a done deal. we'll see.

Yes, 50 mil would be a start of 8 million. 5 years instead of 7 though.
Those last two years would have been an additional 27 million if he started
at 8.
Perhaps some of it is in incentives too.

That's still more than I thought he'd get. He had a good
second-half last season, but that's really all he's had in
his career: the last half of the 2003-2004 season.
