I don't know what video you saw but I don't remember this fan "picking
himself off the floor". Check my above post for the way I saw it go down.

Check the tape. The guy Jermaine punched... JO came flying in just as the
guy was picking himself off the floor.
he was no threat to anyone. And it has been reported he tore himself away
from a cop to go throw that punch.

I'm telling you, I saw video of a guy getting up off the floor from
under a pile of bodies and O'Neil runs up and smacks him. Now, I
don't know what happened before the guy got up, and maybe there was
another guy that O'Neil smacked, but the video I watched went down
just as I described. Dude wasn't threatening anybody, just climbing
to his feet. That's what the video showed. Hard to claim
self-defense based on the footage I watched.

Since neither of us are going to give in on that point, Llet's argue
for a second that this was the fan's intention, (which is going to be
impossible for you to reasonably distinguish as he didn't raise his
first or lunge at Artest).

JO can then either A) rush towards the man and either restrain him or
intervene in some other manner in order to restore the peace B) rush
towards a man considerably smaller than either Artest or himself and
sucker punch him. C) Nothing. D) something in between.

A) would have put him in a peacekeeping mode and got him a ZERO game
susupension. C) would have got him a ZERO game suspension. B) was the
absolute worst thing that he could do.

JO got exactly what he deserved from Stern and will pay big in a
lawsuit down the road. You can't simply go around slugging people
based on hunches.

I agree that the players should not have been in the stands..likewise,
THE FANS SHOULD NEVER BE ON THE PLAYING SURFACE!!! If the penalty for a
fan being on the court should be ejection from the arena and/or
tresspassing charges, why has neither taken place.
