It reaffirms we should be betting the farm on the this guy and do what
is needed to make a trade for him.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/061213
Nice little clip: "Third, the best situation for Iverson should have
been Minnesota, but the Timberwolves' own candidate for "Worst GM of the
Decade" screwed up their roster to the point that they don't have enough
appealing contracts/assets to make a respectable offer. Imagine Iverson
and KG together? What a shame. Plus, King and McHale collaborating on a
deal would have been practically historic, like seeing Frankie Muniz
trying to post up Haley Joel Osment in a celebrity game or something. We
were cheated here."

Hilarious, and the writer almost makes me want AI. Someone explain the
Peter Principle to McHale and King, since they are poster children of
the notion. >> Stay informed about: Very nice AI Article |

Desperate times sometimes call for desperate measures.
Man, was the fourth quarter of the game against the Spurs last
night ugly, or what?
Right now it looks like the Wolves could use all the help they could
get. AI certainly couldn't hurt the Wolves much at this point, IMO.

Burned by speed, and lack of a defensive center. Again.
And Casey doesn't seem to be able to adjust much to
what's going on. Only 12 minutes for Smith? Casey
seemed unwilling to let him play if the Spurs were big
with Duncan and Elson - which I understand, and is
actually why I want to see Smith at SF against most
teams. But I guess we blame EddieG's disappearance
for not making that possible.

The AI debate could rage on. But the Spurs killed the Wolves
with penetration from the guards. Iverson is at least as bad
defensively as Cassell. And upon reflection, I'm thinking that
Ricky dAvis (from time to time he plays a little "d") and AI are
not a good offensive combo - I think Ricky would resort to his
quick trigger mode if he ever got his hands on the ball.
Nah. I don't think that the Wolves really want Iverson for basketball
reasons. Then there's his, ahem, "baggage". >> Stay informed about: Very nice AI Article |

I blame it completely on coaching. Pop went in at half and made
adjustments, while Casey did not know how to react to those
adjustments. Question for Casey: Why did you wait until the Spurs had
come back to call a timeout? Why did you stick with the starting
lineup so long in the second half, when it was obvious Smith and Foye
were the better options against the Spurs? >> Stay informed about: Very nice AI Article |

I don't. He makes up for his lack of height with strength, and he
works well in tandem with KG.

I like having Jaric or Hassell at SF, but I can see the Wolves giving
it a try.

I disagree. While not the greatest defender, AI is a ball hawk.

There is a good possibility that if the Wolves did get AI, Davis would
be gone.

I don't see anything but upside. What baggage? I could care less
about his "practice" rants. He's a warrior on the floor and would fit
in perfectly with KG. >> Stay informed about: Very nice AI Article |

If the Spurs hadn't been shooting so poorly in that game, it
would have been a complete blowout, IMO.
The Wolves looked stunned in the fourth, and yes, Casey did
nothing to adjust to the Spurs when they started getting physical.

Hey, I *did* say it would be a "desperate" move. ;-)

This is our long running discussion about KG playing
center. I don't think that KG should be the man in the
middle against the Duncan /Elson tandem.

I think Smith at SF one of the very few places that the
Wolves could find a reliable advantage, even against
many of the big "names". For example, I'd like to see
Smith guard Carmelo and then pummel him inside on
offense.

There is no way that Casey can handle Iverson's ego.
And how would Iverson handle being 2nd fiddle to KG?
Marbury couldn't handle it. Wally couldn't. Iverson is
like an aging nuclear power plant with untrained workers
in the control room. The potential for good is there, the
potential for a toxic spill, or worse, is greater.
Plus, you gotta wonder if the Twin Cities is ready
for Iverson and his posse. And vice versa.

If there is one star player that Iverson *might* work with,
I believe that KG is that guy. >> Stay informed about: Very nice AI Article |

I don't think it would be a problem, because he would not be second
fiddle. KG would gladly give up the primary role. AI is exactly what
KG is looking for, and it's no secret that AI badly wants to play with
KG.

I just don't see it. Marbury and Wally weren't good enough to be the
primary option. AI is, and commands KG's respect.

Moss was fine here, so I think he'd be okay.

If the Wolves don't get AI, I hope he goes to the Lakers. Now there's
a nuclear bomb waiting to go off! >> Stay informed about: Very nice AI Article |
