Ever been to Gainesville? Not a beach in sight, and after about April 1
it starts resembling a steam bath more than a town.

Alford from Iowa to New Mexico. You don't think that qualifies?

FWIW, we've had pretty mild summers (and winters for that matter) here
for the last several years. Maybe only a week or two each year where
it's been real uncomfortable (and I don't like the heat/humidity).

Absolutely official. Alford had his press conference in Albuquerque
on Friday.

This is true. Even longer for the winters, actually, although we had a
pretty decent blizzard this past February. (First "big one" in about ten
years.)

I started playing golf about eight years ago, and I remember quite a few
summer days in my first few years golfing that it was just unbelievably
oppressive. But there have been very few days like that in the last four
or five years.

I am surprised it is that much better than Fort Myers, where I lived for
a year, or Orlando where I spent some spring/summer time. My sister also
lived in Gainesville, and I recall a hot and humid visit in May at least.

It does get hot and humit in C-U, but nowhere near as metronomically.
Then again, C-U has a more varied set of poor weather than I believe I
have ever seen in any other one location. I live in southern Indiana
now, and it seems that both the winters and summers are milder. The wind
is definitely milder....

They've already introduced him, he put on a red jacket and everything.

It happened right around the same time all the Smith to Minnesota
stuff was happening, so maybe it was overshadowed.
