Why does it not strike me as odd that you would hold a position 180 degrees
from 99% of all others on this group?

Gotta be realistic. The luxury tax matters. Ronny isn't worth the money to
the Lakers. >> Stay informed about: ronny |

And....Andris Biedrins and Harrington are the likely starters.
Nellie is the coach...

I watch a lot more Warrior games than your average Joe here. So why
don't you and the so-called 99% of the newsgroup tell me who the
Warriors have that is a better post-defender and rebounder than Turiaf.
Also, don't say I didn't tell ya.

If the Lakers could have come close to the deal the Warriors offered
(both in dollars and playing time), then sure I'd point the finger at
Ronny for bailing.
But it wasn't like that.
Ronny repaid the Lakers in full with his defense, determination, and
energy. The Lakers now have a silky smooth femininely fresh interior
defense. If we don't sign another 'tough' to help out down there then
I suspect we'll regress next season in terms of how deep we go in the
playoffs. >> Stay informed about: ronny |

Don't blame Ronny for the entire luxury tax - he's not the only salary
contributing to it. If they want to trade a big for Artest or similar,
then what ? I think I would have kept him unless they have something
else in mind for Oct time frame. >> Stay informed about: ronny |

Does not matter...they are already over and the contract was front loaded.
Ronny was not worth 10 million next season.

If it was your real 5 million extra dollars I doubt you would have.

That's not the philosophy that got the Lakers back into contention.
That's the philosophy that came right before it. I guess since Kobe's not
putting any heat on them anymore, then why worry.

Heck, if it was my real money, I wouldn't have agreed to the some of the
other contracts they've been giving out the last few years. Then,
presumably, I'd have that extra few million to keep this guy. >> Stay informed about: ronny |

They did that during the 3 championships.
Picked up veterans like Horace Grant for vets minimun.
Ronny was cheap in a small role, he was not in the top 8 in PJ's rotation in
the playoffs.
Now he is not cheap and even that role was shrinking.

Odom came in on the Shaq trade.
Radmanovic was market value for a MLE at the time, and he played twice the
minutes in the playoffs as Ronny.
Fisher earned his 4 mil last year.
> Then, presumably, I'd have that extra few million to keep this guy.
hey... they could have been under the tax line by keeping Kwame's ending
contract instead of replacing it with Gasol's. ;-)
They also have that decission to make on Odom' use his ending contract to
get their payroll down or trade him and likely stay in the tax. Then Bymun
is going to be looking at a near max extension and if they do not get it
done him as a RFA next year.
I would just appreciate Buss' willingness to pay out an extra 10 mil already
this year in tax instead of being miffed because he will not pay out 10 mil
next year for a player being overpaid at an average of 4 per. It is still a
business with several owners.
And they still have Sasha who may get a simular offer.
You do not pay 10 mil for Ronny while expecting his minutes to drop well
below the 18 he played the year before.
Even without Bynum and Mihm he only played 10 minutes per game in the
playoffs for an average
of 2 pts, 1.5 rbs, 1 block and 2 hard fouls.

Well, he did start Marques Johnson at one time.
Make no mistake though, Nelson gets pissed at Biedrins early and often
during the course of a game, so the scenario I present is there for the
taking. Regardless, Turiaf will see a significant upgrade in playing
time at Golden State. Only a blind man can't see that.
