Very dumb. They will not get fair value for him. They will wait until
the deadline and have to give him up for nothing. If they play him and
pretend like everything is ok, Artest will play hard thinking he will
stay and his increasing market value will entice other teams to seek
him out. Now, other teams know the Pacers are desparate to trade him
since they won't play him. It was the same situation with the Rockets
and Eddie Griffin.

Was it Larry Bird's decision to not play him?

Larry stood by Artest throughout this who ordeal, which I'm sure was hard to
do. He said that he felt betrayed, and it looks to me like he was. Artest
has no loyalty and Larry in a very principled person. He and Walsh said
they would set him all year if need be, but they would not let him play.

I understand how they feel, but I still don't think you cut off your nose to
spite your face.

Just a bad situation all the way around. They should have bit the bullet
and showcased his talents for awhile in hopes of landing a good player for
him IMO.

You've got that right! And thus, the reason he's so hard to trade. I wish
they have tried to mask it a little better and then pawned him off on
someone else. Dishonest, but happens all the time in the NBA.

Ron Artest -- give him a break - For the life of me, I can't see why the media is so hard on Ron Artest, probably because he's an easy target now and not much else to talk about in the NBA. Players and media don't wan't to get on Stern's badside, so he's got very few friends in my..

Artest trade? - Any updates? I thought they were trying to get a deal done in a 10 day window? They need to do something, the Pacers need some more help if their going to make a run at it this year. The rookie is good, but losing Artest hurts.

Artest Interview on ESPN just now - Hawking his "ho's" new CD, very little remorse. Got what he deserved, good riddance. Pacers cut your losses and move on.
