What are you talking about?

If Ali and Jordan had not come before would a black golfer have become the
next world wide sports icon?

Tiger was a dominating force taking a sport by storm where the former golf
icon were aging or gone...and the right personality and looks (not just
race) in the right place at the right time, both when Jordan was retiring
(again) and the right moment in history or it would not have mattered how
good he was, they would not have let him play golf tournaments...

This is your thread, and you never answered my questions. Why does it bother
you IF his race, or mixed race, helped his popularity instead of hurting for
a change? The media has tried often enough to create the 'next jordan',
Tiger just happened.

didn't you say this???

Before it was tiger it was Jordan, not like he did not have plenty of black
american competition.
Mickelson remains well behind Tiger in endorsement income. But he still
makes as much as LeBron and Shaq combined.

*************************************************************************************

and then i said...

mikelson isnt even scottie pippenish compared to tiger...

which meant mikelson is no where close to the level tiger is on...

and then you said this for koresh knows why...

No one is. There are a billion people playing sports that are not tiger...
want to make a case for all of them?
******************************************************************************************

and then i said this...

dont need too, you brought up ground... *****************

because you yourself said before that ground>everybody... so why did i
need to make a case for those people...

i probably shouldve asked you why you get so long winded about nothing
at all, but then i think i know the answer... plenty of time on your hands...

So why did you start this thread with a question? And why not answer mine?

Sure.

Phil's most Pippenish moment (where he double bogeyed 18 at the 2006
US Open) sure changed the golf landscape. It would've been his 3rd
straight major and, combined with Tiger missing the cut after his
father's death, he would have been regarded by most as the #1 player.
But instead, it added to his choke label and he hasn't played nearly
up to that level since. Tiger was obviously only motivated by his poor
result while there's no doubt Phil's finish affected him mentally for
some time.

But even with all that, he's still making 42.2 mil a year. So
obviously he remains very popular. Given that Tiger has won 14 majors
to Phil's 3, I have to believe that if they had the same number of
major wins their money earned would be extremely close. Might even go
to Phil, but we'll never know.

So to answer your original question:

could a white kid just as good as tiger made as much money as tiger
has and will???

I say yes, if that kid if Phil Mickelson.

If I remember correctly it's been that way for several decades largely
thanks to Billie Jean King.

Has been decades for the US open. But that does not cover 'grand slams'.
Most important one is Wimbleton and they and the French just got there last
year.
